I've been wanting to listen to a Beach House album for a while, although I was originally going to listen to Depression Cherry. I've loved Space Song and PPP for a while which initially drew me towards it, but based on suggestions and popularity I decided to go with Bloom.
Myth is easily the biggest song on the album, and for good reason. Most accessible, and has fantastic lyrics about being in a toxic relationship and finally breaking free. Was one of the first Beach House songs I ever heard (not just because its the intro track lol), and probably in my top 3 on this album. Easy 9/10.
Wild is brilliant, beautiful ending and great lyrics throughout. Not much more to say 9/10.
The second most popular track on the album, Lazuli is an absolutely unbelievable song. I could see why maybe some would find the song slightly repetitive but for me I love the progression of the song and the lyrics. 9/10.
Other People is my favourite song on the album. I don't really know what it is, maybe its the subject matter, but something is just different about this song. I've listened to it multiple times in the past day and absolutely love it, 10/10,
Weird start, was confused when it transitioned from Other People to The Hours. Doesn't impact how I feel about the song was just confused. Great song, really nothing much to say except the lyrics on this song might be the best on the entire album. 9/10.
Troublemaker is a very good song, nothing more to it. Decent 8/10.
New Year sounds quite different to other songs on this album. Still the same vocal effects, but something about the chorus is more upbeat which is a welcomed change. Really, really enjoyed this one, 9/10.
Wishes, great song with a great ending, similar to most songs on here. 8/10.
Another sonic change from the "Myth's" of Beach House. Think On The Sea would've been a fantastic outro for the album without Irene, unreal song. 9/10.
I've never heard any song like Irene. I have sonically, this entire album follows a similar musical palate, but the structure of the song is very singular for me. One fantastic song, about 6 and half minutes of pure silence, and then another great song. Obviously if you want to listen to the song you would just skip the silence but on first listen it was almost more interesting to me because I was on edge waiting for music to kick back in. Good 8/10.
I loved this album, it's got a feeling which I don't think you can get from anyone bar Beach House. Definitely already one of my favourite albums of all time and with a few more listens can sneak its way further and further up that list.
Need to listen to another Beach House album after this, 100%.
