PUSHA T - DAYTONA

The "Wyoming run" is a beloved period of Kanye West's career, where he would produce 5 albums in just 5 weeks. This included albums such as ye (Kanye West), KIDS SEE GHOSTS (Kanye West & Kid Cudi), Nasir (NAS), K.T.S.E.(Teyana Taylor) and also Daytona by Pusha T. Daytona is beloved in the hip-hop world, being seen as a classic album by many, so I was very excited to experience the album despite its short run time (21 minutes).

If You Know You Know is an extremely hard hitting song, with a fantastic beat and very fun lyrics. Strong 8/10.

The Games We Play is just a lyric onslaught, backed by a good Kanye West beat. The beat can get a bit repetitive, but overall a nice, replayable song. Good 7/10.

Man I love Rick Ross, he is just so entertaining on any song he's on. Hard Piano has a beautiful chorus and a great Pusha T verse. The best song so far, 9/10.

Come Back Baby features three great Pusha T verses separated by fantastic Kanye West sampling. Perhaps wish that the beat during the verses was a bit more interesting but nonetheless still a great song. Strong 7/10.

Probably the most interesting song so far, Santeria is a journey and separated into two halves. Like the second half more than the initial pure Pusha T rapping, but both parts still great. 8/10.

The best song on the album, What Would Meek Do? is a short but lovable track between Pusha T and Kanye West. My favourite line is when Pusha T says "Talking shit Ye, how do you respond?" and Kanye calls back to the Lift Yourself drama with "Poop, Scoop". Great song, Strong 9/10.

Infrared is a nice outro with a very dark beat, good song ending a great album, Strong 7/10.

Concise, great album driven by Pusha T's fantastic rapping. Easily top 3 of the Wyoming Run, but where you place the top 3 depends on what you truly love in hip-hop. Need to listen to more Pusha T as mainly his voice really intrigues me, fantastic first listen.
