Was really intrigued by AFUT. I had originally heard of the album through TikTok, and before listening I had only heard a snippet of the intro song so I went into this listening blind.
The Intro isn't long, it isn't flashy, but it also a very nice sound to it that perfectly starts off the album, 8/10.
Chaos Space Marine is unlike anything I've ever heard. The build up, the heavenly end, and the raw vocals. I've read around that some people don't like the leads voice, but for me that vulnerability and rawness draws me in, 9/10.
Wow. Concorde is an emotional, lyric masterpiece, for me one of the best songs I've heard all year. 10/10.
Bread Song isn't grand, it isn't breathtaking, but it is a lovely story backed with a great instrumental. Probably isn't in my top 5 of this album but nice track nonetheless. 8/10.
The build up is the main attraction for Good Will Hunting, ending with a very classical rock inspired climax. I may sound like a broken record but again fantastic lyrics combined a lovely instrumental, you can tell all the band members are top level players. 9/10.
Haldern is very raw, and that saxophone in the instrumental is absolutely beautiful. 8/10.
Mark's Theme a great for what it is. Just a beautiful, instrumental interlude into the second half of the album, 8/10.
The Place Where He Inserted the Blade, WOW. Absolutely devastating, one of the final lines "show me the fifth, or the cadence you want me to play" is probably the most emotional part of the entire album so far. What can I really say about this song, its beyond perfect. 11/10.
On first listen I didn't love Snow Globes. I thought it was rather repetitive, and the instrumental was too raw for me. Over the last day however, this song has grown more and more on me. It's not an immediate hitter like TPWHITB or Concorde, but it is just as good 10/10.
12 and a half minutes, multiple different sonic directions, unbelievable ending, I wouldn't be surprised if this was the common pick for the best song on the album or even best song of all time. The story it takes, the ending is absolutely breathtaking. Basketball Shoes. 11/10
WOW. This is easily one of, if not the greatest album I've ever heard. From the extremely raw vocals, to the perfect instrumentation, to the meaningful and emotional lyrics. I can see why AFUT is so critically acclaimed. I've heard that the lead singer has now left, recently releasing an album with three female vocalists which I'm excited to dive into. Not much more to say, perfect album.
